Earlier this month I had the privilege of photographing Peter Harko. Peter is an avid gold prospector. He has mined for gold all over the United States. So when he asked me to tag along and take some photos I couldn't say no. In addition to being a miner, Peter is also my wife's cousin. So for this photo shoot, my whole family was invited. Our day stated at 4:00am and by 5:30am we were on the road to Peter's house. From there he took us to a beautiful stream in Vermont where he has been mining for the past year or so. Peter was a very good teacher. He taught us all how to pan for gold. Some of us learned a lot quicker than others but I won't mention any names. Even though we only found one tiny piece of gold, a good time was had by all. I really enjoyed this shoot. It was so different than shooting a wedding. It was very laid back and relaxing. No one in site, just the sound of the birds and the babbling brook. Here are some of my favorite photos from my day with Peter.
